A wine communicator, event host and winemaker based in the UK, Jenni is passionate about making wine more accessible, inclusive and fun.
In 2020, Jenni took the leap to leave her career in banking to immerse herself in the world of wine. After an internship in South Africa living and breathing winemaking, she enrolled in Plumpton College and WSET, successfully gaining both her Masters in Viticulture & Oenology and WSET Diploma.
Alongside running wine events through her businesses Grape Nights (offering an online wine subscription and tasting packages) and First Glass Wine Events, Jenni is also planting and nurturing her own vineyard – Saela Vineyard in Sussex — a lifelong dream now becoming reality.
“Planting my vineyard has been my biggest challenge — physically, mentally, and logistically. When we bought the site, it was completely wild, with nettles taller than me! Clearing the land took months, including coordinating with UK Power Networks to move electrical poles underground. By May 2023, we planted 750 vines by hand. Within weeks, buds began to break and shoots grew, and slowly but surely the vineyard started to come alive. Since then, I’ve spread manure by hand (with a lot of help from my husband), pruned, cultivated, and rolled the ground — and now, it finally looks like a real vineyard. I can’t wait to make my first wine when the grapes are ready.”
“I have felt so supported by other women throughout my wine journey. Launching Grape Nights and First Glass Wine Events has been possible thanks to the incredible women around me — whether attending our launches, sharing our reels and posts, or simply rooting for us behind the scenes. The community of women in wine genuinely lifts each other up, and I’m so grateful to be part of it.”
“Right now, I’m excited by the fresh voices and different ways of communicating about wine in the UK. I love that accessibility is being championed — especially by people like Emma Hodges, who is doing amazing work in raising awareness and driving change within the industry. I believe there’s room for everyone to share their love of wine, in whatever way feels true to them, and it’s brilliant to see that openness growing.”
“I’d like to nominate Jane Clare; she is an absolute gem in the wine world. Bubbly, warm, and bursting with infectious energy, she makes wine feel exciting and approachable. I had the joy of meeting her in the Loire Valley, and was instantly inspired by her passion, her brilliant palate, and the way she brings people together. Jane shares her love of wine through writing, tastings, and education, always with heart and humour. She’s a true force for good in the industry and deserves every bit of the spotlight.”
